Frugal Friday

It's Frugal Friday over at Biblical Womanhood, and I actually have something to offer!

I love sushi. I crave sushi. I even found a recipe and have 98% of the ingredients to try making it myself (California Roll. I'll eat raw fish, but I doubt I could find/afford sushi grade tuna). I'm only missing the green stuff, which I think is called 'nori.'

But this is not about sushi. It's about those cute little containers that sushi comes in. The tops are clear and the bottoms have a pretty Oriental-floral design. Seemed a shame to get rid of them.

So I bleach-clean them and use them for craft storage! I just let them soak a bit, and there is no smell. Really, if your sushi smells fishy...order the tempura.

I've divided up my ribbons by color and am now starting on dividing up my buttons. They stack beautifully and you can easily see what is inside!

What a creative way to reuse those containers! I like the see-through aspect of the lids.

Great idea. I love organized craft spaces. Check out my newly organized craft alcove here.

Good idea! I never have sushi out here in the country, but you still gave me the idea to be on the look out for similar containers. I'm going to Lowes today with a $25.00 gift card with storage on my mind.

I re-use the little wooden boxes/crates that clementine/cutie oranges come in and use them for storing my craft materials. 3 of them can fit side by side on my storage shelves and I covered the ends of them with matching heavy paper so they look a bit nicer.

Brilliant...I do the same with cookie boxes from the grocer's bakery...no I don't buy bakery cookies...I just asked if I could have some boxes and they gae me a dozen or so....they arn't pretty but they are clear and stack nicely.

This is a really great idea! BUT . . . I don't think I'll be able to use it. I'm not a picky eater. . . but I can't do sushi. Nope, just can't. NOW, Amy's COOKIE BOX idea ... that's got POSSIBILITIES (as long as I get to eat the cookies first) ;D

Thanks for the comments on the Kitchen Aid. I have wanted one for so long. I had been saving money from last Christmas to buy it. I figured I'd have enough if I added my Christmas gift money from this year. However, at the end of November, something else came up that took priority over it. You know how that goes. Apparently, when the kids realized that I had spent my stash, they started to plot to get one for me for Christmas (as I understand the tale -- that is).

I did clear a place to keep it on the counter. I thought I would use it more if I didn't have to lug it from somewhere else everytime I wanted to use it. It's a heavy little buzzard.

I'm going to try your idea of setting it on a towel, because we've all complained about how difficult it is to slide it across the counter.

Have a great weekend.
