Works for Me Wed: Socks

We all know that somewhere in the universe there is a place where single socks live. In my case--there are so many that they've created a small country out there on some remote planet. But I'm fighting back! I've tried many methods, but I started doing this a week or so ago and it really seems to work. The 'bull clip,' or 'binder clip' is strong, but it has no sharp edges (like a safety pin) that might ruin the socks and it won't break or get lost as easily as those little weird round things you buy. I now keep a supply in both my room and the laundry room. No sock of mine will ever escape into the universe again! (Oh, and a bonus WFMW tip: always check the 99 cent store for socks! Some of these puppies have an original price of 6 or 7 bucks! Geesh, for a lousy pair of socks!)

Ah, the uses of binder clips! I did my first WFMW on using them to secure bibs. The inventor of these probably never imagined how useful they would really be!

I like the idea of using them to secure bibs--will have to remember that when I finally have grandchildren.

WOW.
I hate socks.
I hate the idea that they
NEVER. MATCH. UP. COMPLETELY.
I have never done the laundry and not had at least one sock go missing.
THank heavens for summer.
Sandal weather!
*grin*

Isn't this the truth? Thanks for the tip!

Good thinking! I hate lost socks. I've got a whole pile of sock widows. Thanks!

What a great idea. Now does anyone have an idea on how not to lose them before they are washed. My three year old loves to take of his socks any where and hides them. We usually can find one in the pair but never both. I too am thankful it is summer since my kids only wear sandels now.

If you think that $6-7 is spendy, try lurking on some of the sockknitters boards! Would you believe that some people pay around $20 for the YARN to knit a pair of socks!?!

[Yes, I'm guilty of spendy sock yarn too ... although I haven't quite splurged $20.]

Don't the bulldog clips RUST?

Mom2fur said...

I don't think the clips rust, slughorn. Remember, they go in the dryer, too! And I agree about yarn--wow, some of that stuff is expensive! I mean, it's gorgeous stuff--but geesh!

My daughters sock drawer is now a mass of unmatched socks. I am giving up, I am switching her over to boring white socks. Compliments of Hanes.
